Benchmade 3350 Mini Infidel Knife Review

Benchmade put everything you love about the Infidel OTF knife into a smaller package that delivers big. The Mini Infidel is a double action out the front knife with a D2 tool steel dagger blade and a black anodized aluminum handle. An integrated cleaning port and removable deep carry pocket clip round out this phenomenal knife.

BLADE

The 3.10 blade features a fuller groove the full length. The D2 Tool steel is an air hardened tool steel. It gives you good corrosion resistance and excels in wear resistance. It also takes a very nice edge, which makes it perfect for this special Black Class knife. This fantastic double edge spear point blade blade has a thickness of .09 and is about .625 wide.

A fuller groove, or a blood groove as it is sometimes called, doesn’t really do anything with blood. The name originates from the blacksmith tool that was used to put a groove on a sword or knife blade. The groove quickly became known by the same name as the fuller tool used to make it. The purpose of the groove is to reduce weight on the blade while not affecting the strength or integrity of the blade. Think of an I beam used in construction. They are thinner in the middle and keep their strength. This is the exact same purpose a fuller groove is used on a knife or sword. Well, that and the fact that it just looks fierce.

HANDLE

The 4.00 black anodized machined 6061 T-6 aluminum handle is built with a dual quillons that keep your fingers and hand on the handle where they should be. The handle quillions transition into slight finger grooves. From there the handle flares out just slightly to create a comfortable handle belly that creates a natural grip for your hand. The handle is just over ½ thick and the top scale has a multi directional positive grip just like the Presidio knives from Benchmade. This grip has ridges that run horizontally across the top of the handle scale and point in toward the middle of the handle, which means no matter how you grip the handle (forward or reverse grip) the handle always creates an anti slip grip for your hand.

The anodized aluminum will take a beating and still look great. This is the perfect handle material for harsh environments such as heat, cold, wet, icy and whatever else Mother Nature decides to cast your way.

The trigger sits near the top of the handle. As you push it toward the tip of the handle, the blade engages and comes out. From there, to close the blade, you just pull that slide back and the blade retracts. The slide has four steps to it so it looks a bit like a slice out of a pyramid. This gives your thumb plenty of grip points so it is relatively easy to open and close the blade. Add in the removable, deep carry, tip down pocket clip and you have a knife that is perfect for discreet carry. You can also pack it around in the included MOLLE® compatible soft sheath so it fits right in with your duty gear or your combat pack
